Chinese New Year
The Chinese community of Tahiti celebrates the New Year on the date given by the Chinese horoscope for that particular year. The program and festivities begin with an official opening ceremony at the Town Hall of Papeete. This is followed by a Grand Ball. A cultural day is also organized to discover the magic of Chinese folk culture; song, dance, martial arts and culinary arts.

Hawaiki Nui Va'a
In the Leeward Islands. Va'a (canoe racing) is one of the traditional sport of Tahiti. Over 100 canoes will race between the islands of Huahine, Raiatea, Taha'a and Bora Bora. "Ori Tahiti Master Course" Tahitian Dance Academy
March 30 - April 4, 2009 The 1st Tahitian Dance Academy "Ori Tahiti Master Course" is organized by the "Conservatoire artistique de la Polynésie-Française", controlled by the Ministry of Culture of French Polynesia .
Their goal is to pass on the art of the Tahitian traditional dance, which is an integral part of the Tahitian culture while introduce their culture to the future generations as well as all the amateurs willing to learn about the Tahitian spirit. At the end of the course, you will receive a certificate indicating your participation and your acquired dance level.
The Tahitian dancing "Master Course" will allow beginners and experienced participants to increase their dance level at every stage of the course. You will not only be initiated to the "Ori Tahiti", you will also learn the meaning of the Polynesian songs as well as the different rhythms created with the Polynesian instruments.

Raiatea International Billfish Tournament
